For too long, creative Australian women have remained closeted, their voices softened, sidelined, or shaped to fit expectations.

In Her Own Words exists to change that.

This is a space for women to speak as they are - unfiltered, unpolished, and unapologetically themselves. We believe in the power of language to hold complexity. That women are not one thing, but many - layered with experience, contradiction, strength, softness, anger, humour, and truth. And that all of it deserves to be heard.

Through poetry, In Her Own Words brings together voices from across Australia to create a mosaic collection that will not only offer emerging poets a place to start, but also provide them with the opportunity to leave a permanent mark.

Our contributors are published regularly via our Substack channel, while selected works are included in our print anthology.
